Sky1’s latest original comedy series Moone Boy will premiere on Friday September 14th at 9:30pm, it has been announced.

Created by Chris O’Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy (The Running Mate), Moone Boy is set in a small Irish town in 1989 and follows the adventures of the youngest member of the Moone family: 11-year-old Martin (David Rawle). In order to survive life with his chaotic clan – mum Debra (Deirdre O’Kane), dad Liam (Peter McDonald) and older sisters Trisha (Aoife Duffin), Fidelma (Clare Monnelly) and Sinead (Sarah White) – Martin relies on his friend, Sean Murphy (O’Dowd) for company. Sean is no ordinary pal, however, because he’s imaginary; a grown man with a beard whose middle name, Caution, gives him something of an edge. That said, Sean Caution Murphy isn’t quite in the same league as Padriac’s (Ian O’Reilly) made-up mate, ‘legendary wrestler’ Crunchy Danger Haystacks (Johnny Vegas). Together, Martin and Sean negotiate various obstacles, whether they be his sisters’ pranks, school bullies or the pressures of being an altar boy, while the rest of the Moones go about their daily business.
