ITV1 has renewed drama series Law & Order: UK, Scott & Bailey and Vera. Law & Order: UK will return for a seventh season, Scott & Bailey for a third season and Vera will also return for a third season.
Law & Order: UK, produced by Kudos Film and Television and Wolf Films, is based on the well known US series Law & Order and follows the investigation of a major crime by the Metropolitan Police Service and the subsequent prosecution undertaken by the Crown Prosecution Service. ITV1 has ordered 8 episodes for the show’s seventh season, which will enter production this November.
Scott & Bailey was created by Sally Wainwright and Diane Taylor and is produced by Red Production Company and revolves around two Detective Constables who have been assigned to the Major Incident Team within the (fictional) Manchester metropolitan police force. ITV1 has ordered 8 episodes for the show’s third season, which is set to enter production this November in Manchester.
Vera is based on the series of novels written by Ann Cleeves and follows experienced Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) as she tries to crack some of the toughest cases in Northumberland. Stanhope is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. If she’s lonely she doesn’t show it and faces the world with caustic wit, guile and courage. Her trusted and long-suffering colleague is Joe Ashworth (David Leon); he is her right-hand man and surrogate son. Together they approach every new case with unparalleled gusto and professionalism. ITV1 has ordered 4 two-hour episodes for the show’s third season which will enter production this September.
