Sky Atlantic Sets UK Premiere Date For The Borgias Season Two

The second season of The Borgias will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Saturday July 21st at 9pm, it has been announced.

The Emmy award winning series was created by Neil Jordan and follows Pope Alexander VI, the cunning, manipulative patriarch of the infamous Italian Renaissance family who builds an empire by bribing, buying and muscling his way into the papacy. The series cast includes Jeremy Irons, Colm Feore, François Arnaud, David Oakes, Holliday Grainger, Joanne Whalley, Lotte Verbeek, Sean Harris and Aidan Alexander.

In the show’s second season, Pope Alexander seeks to consolidate his power and enlists his family to take an oath of revenge on the great noble houses that dared to stand against him, causing his Papacy to face political turmoil once again. But Alexander’s real problems lie with his children, all of whom are growing up and defying his authority. Lucrezia forges an unlikely alliance between Vanozza and Giulia, and together they plot to battle Vatican corruption. The sibling rivalry between Cesare and Juan will soon turn to hatred as their father’s unwavering favoritism toward Juan triggers Cesare to engage his dark side. Elsewhere in Rome, Alexander’s old enemy Della Rovere has entered the city incognito and conspires to assassinate him.
