Lifetime has given the green-light to Cinnamon Girl, a new one hour drama pilot which hails from Renée Zellweger and Anthony Tambakis.

Cinnamon Girls was created by Zellweger and Tambakis and follows four girls, Cassie, Lola, Junie and Lou, who are coming of age in the Los Angeles music and movie scenes of the late 1960s/early 1970s, one of the most turbulent, creative and golden times in the history of American popular culture. Gavin O’Connor (Warrior) is set to direct the pilot, which is being executive produced by Zellweger, Tambakis and Gavin O’Connor.

The pilot order for Cinnamon Girl comes as the female skewing network is looking to agressively expand its scripted line up. It joins The Secret Lives of Wives (working title) and Witches of East End which received pilot orders last week. The network is also home to Army WivesDrop Dead Diva and recently picked up Marc Cherry’s Devious Maids to series.
