Exclusive: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is in the early stages of preparing a UK DVD release for the fourth season of drama series Breaking Bad (which, like season three, has not been broadcast on UK television), TVWise has learned exclusively.
The four disc DVD set, titled ‘Breaking Bad: The Complete Fourth Season‘, has already appeared on a number of e-commerce sites with an October 1st release date. However, sources at Sony tell me that while they are working on the DVD set, they have not settled on a firm release date and could only confirm that they currently have the release penciled in for autumn. One source told me. “we are working on it, we’ve submitted it [to the BBFC] for a rating, but nothing is set in stone at this stage. There is a lot of moving parts to any release, right now things are on track, we’re looking at the end of the year for release.”
I’m told that Breaking Bad: The Complete Fourth Season will (as expected) feature all 13 episodes from the show’s fourth season and a long list of special features, which includes: 5 featurettes, 21 episodes of Inside Breaking Bad, 12 extended and deleted scenes, Gale’s karaoke video, a gag reel and the “Better Call Saul” commercials. I was unable to confirm what rating the set had been given by the BBFC, but I was able to get my hands on an early look of the package art (which you can see on the right). Sources at Sony also revealed that their hopes are that, much like the show’s third season, season four will appear on Netflix shortly before the DVD release.
TVWise will bring you more once there is a confirmed release date and if/when the show’s fourth season will be available for streaming on Netflix.
