TV Land’s award-winning comedy series Hot In Cleveland will return to Sky Living to finish airing its 22 episode second season from Wednesday July 11th, with a double-bill airing from 8pm, it has been announced.
Hot In Cleveland was created by Suzanne Martin and revolves around three best friends from the LA entertainment industry whose lives are changed forever when their plane, which was headed for Paris, unexpectedly lands in Cleveland. Finding themselves in this new promised land and loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented. The series stars Betty White as Elka Ostrovsky, Jane Leeves as Joy Scroggs, Wendie Malick as Victoria Chase and Valerie Bertinelli as Melanie Hope Moretti.
In the first new episode (airing at 8pm), titled Where’s Elka?, as fugitive Elka flees Ohio, the efforts of Melanie, Victoria and Joy to find their gutsy housekeeper point them towards Canada, but a clue along the way leads them to Elka through an unusual cocktail of cider, disguises and a coma. The girls become unexpectedly fond of Amish culture and once Victoria discovers her passion for simplistic fashion and churning butter she vows not to leave, whereas Joy has to fight to stay in America when she comes face-to-face with the Governor’s wife after being rumored to be his mistress.
In the second episode (airing at 8:30pm), titled How I Met My Mother, the lives of Elka, Joy, Melanie and Victoria get a lot more complicated thanks to several cases of mistaken identity and a mysterious phone call. Victoria’s prison pen-pal has been paroled and after rejecting his marriage proposal he comes looking for his lost-love, but the girls fear what he will do when he finds out that Victoria has been posing as Joy. A gun-wielding Elka promises to defend the honour of her friends, but an effort to diffuse the situation results in Joy accidentally shooting her long-lost son, Owen, and Melanie pretending to be his mother.
