The second season of Canadian crime-drama series King will receive its UK premiere on Universal Channel on Thursday May 31st at 10pm, it has been announced. The season one finale is currently scheduled to air on the channel on Thursday May 24th at 10pm. The show’s second season runs a longer length of 13 episodes.

The show’s second season sees the addition of two new cast members: Rossif Sutherland and Karen Robinson. Sutherland plays Detective Pen Martin and Robinson plays Detective Ingrid Evans. Wondering what’s in store for the detectives as we head into season two? In the opening episode the task force is called in to investigate the murder of a stripper who has ties to the son of the former Chief of Police.

The second season of King is currently being broadcast by Showcase in Canada. The second season opened to over 100 000 viewers, but since then the series has had a hard time maintaining its ratings, with the ninth episode (Chris Harris) attracting a series low of around 60 000 viewers, although I’m told that the series does repeat well on Saturday nights. It is currently unknown if Showcase will renew the series for a third season.
