Syfy has cancelled their drama series Sanctuary, TVWise has learned. The cancellation comes after months of uncertainty as to the future of the series, which finished airing its fourth season on the network back in December.
Here is the official statement from Mark Stern, President, Syfy Original Content and Co-Head, Universal Cable Productions: “We’re honored to have been part of this incredible series. In addition to garnering unmatched devotion by fans worldwide, Sanctuary was a bona fide trailblazer, setting new standards with its highly innovative production techniques – including pioneering green screen and RED camera technology – and Emmy-nominated visual effects. It’s been an amazing ride and we look forward to our next project with Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood and Damian Kindler.”
Sanctuary was created by Damian Kindler and starred Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Christopher Heyerdahl and Ryan Robbins. Sanctuary followed the adventures of the enigmatic Dr Helen Magnus and her top-secret ‘Sanctuary Network’ which provides safe haven for creatures with extraordinary abilities, known as abnormals.
TVWise’s Cable TV Scorecard has been updated with this new information.
