The second season of science-fiction series Falling Skies will receive its UK premiere on FX UK on Tuesday July 3rd at 9pm, it has been announced.

Falling Skies was created by Robert Rodat and tells the extraordinary story about life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. Noah Wyle stars as a college professor who becomes an unlikely resistance leader in this gripping series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight and Connor Jessup also star. Joining the series as recurring guest stars this season are Terry O’Quinn (Lost) and Brandon Jay McLaren (The Killing). O’Quinn has signed up to play Arthur Manchester, Tom’s mentor and former professor, in the two-part season finale, while McLaren will play resident engineer and technology expert Jamil Dexter.

The show’s second season picks up three months after the season one finale, in which Tom went willingly with the aliens aboard one of their ships. In those three months no one has heard from him and Tom soon discovers that his absence has taken its toll on his sons. Tom had hoped that by agreeing to a dialogue with the invaders, he would not only free his son from the invaders’ influence but also get a better picture of the aliens’ overall plan.
