Fox Picks Up Two Dramas, Three Comedies To Series

On the heels of renewing Touch and cancelling The Finder and Alcatraz, Fox has picked up five of its pilot to series. The pick ups include dramas The FollowingThe Mob Doctor and comedies Ben & KateIt’s Messy and The Goodwin Games.

The Following (previously known as Untitled Kevin Williamson Project), which hails from Kevin Williamson and Warner Bros. Television, revolves around Ryan Hardy, a retired FBI Agent who is brought back into the fold when a serial killer he took down escapes from prison. Now Hardy must track down his old foe, Joe Carroll, and his new cult of killers. The cast include Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy, Adan Canto, Billy Brown, Shawn Ashmore, Jeananne Goossen, Natalie Zea, Valorie Curry and Nico Tortorella.

The Mob Doctor (previously know as Untitled Josh Berman/Robert Wright Project) follows a young doctor who works for the Chicago mob. The drama series stars Jordana Spiro, Zach Gilford, William Forsythe, James Carpinello, Jesse Lee Soffer and Jamie Lee Kirchner. Sony Pictures Television is producing, with Josh Berman, Robert Wright and Michael Dinner serving as executive producers.

Ben & Kate (previously known as Ned Fox Is My Manny) was created by Dana Fox and revolves around a young man who moves in with his uptight sister to help raise her child. The cast includes Dakota Johnson, Nat Faxon, Echo Kellum, Maggie Jones and Lucy Punch. 20th Century Fox Television amd Chernin Entertainment are producing, with Dana Fox, Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope Serving as executive producers.

It’s Messy (previously known as Untitled Mindy Kaling Project) hails from Mindy Kaling and Universal Television and follows a young Bridget Jones type character trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives. The comedy stars Mindy Kaling, Ed Weeks, Chris Messina, Anna Camp, Zoe Jarmon and Dana Delorenzo.

The Goodwin Games, created by Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris, follows three kids who must re-connect in order to meet the terms of their late father’s will and get their hands on the inheritance. The cast includes Scott Foley, Becki Newton, Felisha Terrell and Jake Lacey. 20th Century Fox Television is producing, with Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Chris Harris and Peyton Reed serving as executive producers.
