The fate of CSI: NY had been up in the air for some time as word leaked out that, with the ratings for the entire CSI franchise down, the network would be saying goodbye to one of the spin-offs. While, initially, it looked as though CSI: NY would be cancelled and CSI: Miami renewed, the fact that NY is cheaper to produce than Miami is what ultimately saved the show.
The Gary Sinise fronted procedural joins CBS’ large slate of previously renewed shows which includes 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Blue Bloods, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, The Mentalist, The Good Wife and Two And A Half Men. There is still no official word on the fate of bubble show Rules of Engagement, though I hear CBS is leaning toward a shortened seventh season order, to launch mid-season.
