A&E Cancels Drama Series ‘Breakout Kings’

A&E has cancelled crime drama series Breakout Kings, just two and a half weeks after the series finished airing its ten episode second season, TVWise has confirmed.

The drama series, which was created by Nick Santora and Mark Olmstead and originally began it’s life as a drama pilot for Fox, followed two US Marshals who create a task force comprised of three convicted felons, to track down escaped prisoners. The drama series starred Domenick Lombardozzi as Special Deputy US Marshal Ray Zancanelli, Jimmi Simpson as Dr. Lloyd Lowery, Malcolm Goodwin as Sean Daniels, Brooke Nevin as Jules Simms and Serinda Swan as Erica Reed.

The show’s second season premiered on A&E on Sunday March 4th and attracted 2.2 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 25% in total viewers and 33% in the 18-49 demographic compared to the series premiere last year. Across its ten episode second season Breakout Kings averaged 1.5 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 21% and 12.5% compared to the averages for the show’s first season (1.9/0.8).
