BBC America has signed up to co-produce upcoming mini-series Spies of Warsaw, which will air on BBC America as part of the network’s Dramaville lineup. They join a large list of co-producers which includes TVP, ARTE France and BBC Worldwide.
Spies of Warsaw is set in Poland, Paris, London & Berlin in the years leading up to the Second World War and tells the tale of French and German intelligence operatives who are locked in a life-and-death struggle on the espionage battlefield. The mini-series stars David Tennant as Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier, a decorated war hero and the new military attaché at the French embassy and Janet Montgomery as Anna, a lawyer for the League of Nations and Colonel Mercier’s lover.
Spies of Warsaw is based on the series of novels by Alan Furst and is being adapted by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. The mini-series is being produced by Fresh Pictures, TVP, ARTE France, BBC America and BBC Worldwide, with Richard Fell and Jamie Laurenson serving as executive producers.
