Sony Entertainment Television has acquired the UK broadcast rights to the second season of Community from Sony Pictures Television and they have already set a premiere date for the series: Tuesday April 10th at 10:30 pm.
Created by Dan Harmon, Community follows the exploits of a group of students at the Greendale Community College. The series stars Joel McHale, Chevy Chase, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover and Ken Jeong. Community is aired by NBC in the United States and was recently announced to be returning on March 15th, after having been pulled from the network’s schedule in December.
This news will no doubt come as a relief to UK fans of the series who were unsure if they would ever get to see the show’s second season. The first season of Community was originally broadcast in the UK by MTV’s Viva channel in 2010, however the channel had remained silent about whether or not they would broadcast the show’s second season. Then, last month, TVWise broke the news that Viva had no intention of acquiring the rights to the second season of the series, effectively leaving Community without a UK broadcaster before Sony Entertainment Television came into the picture.
