Exclusive: Seven actors have joined the cast of BBC One’s upcoming drama series The Secret of Crickley Hall.

Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey), David Warner (Wallander), Sarah Smart (Five Days), Tom Ellis (Miranda), Douglas Henshall (Primeval), Iain De Caestecker (The Fades) and Donald Sumpter (Game Of Thrones) have all joined the drama project which is being produced by BBC Drama Production North.

Written and directed by Joe Ahearne, the three part drama series follows the Caleigh family who, one year after their young son goes missing, decide to take a vacation at Crickley Hall in an attempt to escape their past. It seems like the perfect destination, until cellar doors open of their own accord, unseen children cry through the night and water seeps through impervious rock. At the centre of it all, a frenzied spectre wields a cane. Just as the Caleighs are ready to move out, Eve hears her missing son. Time shifts between present day and 1943 as the Caleighs desperately try to find out what connects Crickley Hall to their lost boy. Will they find him before the evil that stalks Crickley Hall finds their other children?

The Secret of Crickley Hall is slated to begin production in Manchester later this month and is expected to premiere on BBC One in October.
