PBS UK has set the premiere dates for two of their upcoming documentaries, Murdoch’s War and Baseball. Baseball will receive its UK premiere from Monday March 26th at 10:15pm. While Frontline’s latest documentary, Murdoch’s Scandal, will receive its UK premiere on Wednesday March 28th at 9pm.
Baseball from acclaimed film director Ken Burns, takes an inside look at America’s favourite past time. The documentary takes a look at the reasons for the successes of the game, especially with the working classes, and how that led to the mythos around great players like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The series also focuses on the issue of equality, both racial and sexual and reveals that women were briefly permitted ‘A League of Their Own’ to entertain the public during World War II.
Murdoch’s Scandal will take a look at the phone hacking scandal and how it has engulfed the Murdoch empire (which includes The Wall Street Journal, Fox News and 20th Century Fox). In a joint production with Canadian TV channel CBC, Frontline correspondent Lowell Bergman tells the story of the battle over the future of News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch’s reputation and his family’s fortunes.
