Exclusive: Back in October, Comedy Central snapped up the first run rights to NBC’s comedy series Whitney. At the time the plan was to give the show its UK premiere in the spring, but I have now been told that the series will likely not make its debut on the channel until the summer.
The comedy series is currently airing on NBC in the United States and follows the lives of Whitney and Alex, a happily unmarried couple who have been together for three years and have absolutely no intention of tying the knot. Created by Whitney Cummings, the series stars Cummings as a fictionalised version of herself, Chris D’Elia as Alex Miller, Maulik Pancholy as Neal, Zoe Lister-Jones as Lily, Rhea Seehorn as Roxanne and Dan O’Brien as Mark.
The first season of Whitney consists of 24 episodes and has been performing reasonably well for NBC; averaging 4.5 million total viewers and a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic in live + same day.
