Just as we are about to head into the upfronts in May, CBS has become the first network to officially renew any of their series. The eye network has just renewed 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Blue Bloods, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, The Mentalist, The Good Wife, The Amazing Race, Undercover Boss, 60 Minutes and 48 Hour Mystery.
They join previously renewed series How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. I’m also being told that CBS is in preliminary talks with Warner Bros. Television for a renewal of hit series Two and a Half Men. This mass renewal only leaves the fates of A Gifted Man, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Rob, Unforgettable, Rules of Engagement and the yet to premiere NYC 22 still to be determined
According to CBS the returning shows encompass every night of the week and every hour, many of which are #1 in their time period and some #1 on the entire night. Speaking of the renewals, Nina Tassler, President of Entertainment for CBS, said: “This large-scale renewal is testimony to the strength, stability and success of a deep and diverse roster of top-rated programming,It positions us for continued success next season and certainly creates an environment that will give our new shows the best possible chance to succeed.”
