Ratings – Up Against Daytona 500, Almost All Series Dip

The Daytona 500 on Fox led to almost universal dips in ratings on Monday night, with only a handful of ABC shows posting gains compared to last week. Preliminary figures for the race show an average 14.24 million total viewers and a 4.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic in live+same day.

Over on NBC, The Voice saw a drop of 10% in the 18-49 demo from last week and for it’s two hour time-slot (8-10pm), the show averaged 14.77 million viewers and a 5.4 rating. Following on from The Voice was Smash, which saw a 4% rise compared to last week, with 6.68 million viewers and a 2.4 rating.

In what was a rough night all round, CBS did not fare any better. How I Met Your Mother saw a drop of 5%, averaging 9.13 million viewers and a 3.6 rating. 2 Broke Girls posted 10.14 million total viewers and a 3.7 rating; down 7.5% from last week. Two And A Half Men and Mike & Molly also saw drops in ratings by 14% and 15%, respectively, with Men averaging 11.81 million viewers and a 3.6 rating, while Mike & Molly drew in 10.1 million viewers and a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

ABC didn’t fare to badly last night, however, with The Bachelor (8-10pm) averaging 7.98 million viewers and a 2.6 rating, up 4%, and Castle posting gains of 5% with 9.06 million viewers and a 2.2 rating.

On The CW, Gossip Girl was steady with last week, posting 1.17 million total viewers and a 0.5 rating, while Hart of Dixie dropped in the demo by 17% averaging 1.4 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Syfy’s already renewed Being Human was steady with last week, posting 1.36 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo.
