Ratings – American Idol Wins The Night, Almost All ABC Shows Hit Series Lows

Fox’s hit reality series American Idol won the night in the key 18-49 demo on Tuesday. The two hour showing (8-10 pm) drew 15.8 million viewers and a 5.0 rating.

For CBS, NCIS dipped 7% in the demo, posting 18.01 million viewers and a 3.4 rating. NCIS: Los Angeles, on the other hand, posted gains of 1% and 15%, averaging 15.67 million viewers and a 3.1 rating (up from last weeks 15.47 million viewers and 2.7 rating). Unforgettable posted 9.93 million viewers and a 1.9 rating, down a tenth in the demo from last week.

In what was a pretty bad night for ABC, almost all shows posted series low ratings with only Body of Proof not doing so. Cougar Town dropped 4% in total viewers and 12% in the 18-49 demo, posting 4.30 million viewers and a 1.5 rating. Last Man Standing dropped to 7.38 million viewers and a 2.1 rating, down a tenth in the demo from last week. The River continued its slide in the ratings, averaging 4.1 million viewers and a 1.5 rating, down 12% from last week. Body of Proof, although not reaching a series lowwas also down compared to last week with 6.8 million viewers and a 1.3 rating.

Over at the peacock, the season finale of Parenthood was up 4% and 12% from last week, posting 5.13 million viewers and a 1.9 rating. The Biggest Loser, which was competing in it’s time-slot against American Idol, was down 13% in the 18-49 demo compared to last week with 5.7 million viewers and a 2.0 rating.

Ringer was the only original to air on The CW last night and it was steady with last week, posting 1.11 million viewers and a 0.4 rating.

The season finale of USA Network’s White Collar was steady with last week with 2.5 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo in live+same day.

TNT’s Southland was up a tenth in the demo from last week, posting 1.9 million viewers and a 0.7 rating.

Justified was also up a tenth of a ratings point from last week with 2.15 million viewers and a 0.9 rating.
