PBS UK To Air Jimmy Carter From March 9th

Exclusive: Continuing their series of presidential biographies, PBS UK have announced that they will air a two part documentary on Jimmy Carter starting on March 9th. The first part of the documentary, subtitled Jimmy Who?, will air March 9th at 9pm and the concluding part, subtitled Hostage, will air the following week on March 16th at 9pm.

The two part documentary, which is narrated by Linda Hunt (The Practice, NCIS: Los Angeles), documents Jimmy Carter’s humble beginnings, the formation of his political beliefs right on through to rise from obscurity to win the 1976 presidential election, his one term in office, the Iran hostage crisis and his defeat in the 1980 presidential election; which he lost to Ronald Reagan. The documentary has input from a number of insiders who knew Carter well, such as Chip Carter, Rosalynn Carter, Walter Mondale (Vice President of the United States), Jody Powell (White House Press Secretary), Bert Lance (OMB Director), Leroy Johnson (Georgia State Senator), historian E. Stanly Godbold and biographer Douglas Brinkley.
