FX has set Thursday June 28th as the premiere date for its summer comedy lineup, including Charlie Sheen’s new series Anger Management, Russell Brand’s Strangely Uplifting, the second season of Wilfred and the third season of Louie.
Up first is Anger Management, which will air its first two episodes on June 28th starting at 9/8c, subsequent new episodes of the series will air at 9:30/8:30c, with the prior weeks episode being repeated at 9/8c. Anger Management stars Charlie Sheen, Selma Blair, Shawnee Smith, Daniela Bobadilla, Michael Arden, and Noureen DeWulf and revolves around a non-traditional therapist (Charlie Sheen) specializing in anger management. The series is based on the feature film of the same name. FX has ordered 10 episodes for the show’s first season.
Season two of Wilfred follows Anger Management at 10/9c. Wilfred is about a young man, Ryan (Elijah Wood), struggling unsuccessfully to make his way in the world until he forms a unique friendship with Wilfred (Jason Gann), his neighbor’s pet dog. Everyone else sees Wilfred as just a dog, but Ryan sees a crude and somewhat surly, yet irrepressibly brave and honest Australian bloke in a cheap dog suit. FX has ordered 13 episodes for the show’s second season.
Season three of Louie will debut at 10:30/9:30c. From the inventive imagination of Louis C.K., Louie puts a spotlight on C.K.’s everyday ordeals, his quest to find love and his pursuit of humor. Each episode features a scripted story and a mix of his stand-up comedy, which is original material for the series. FX has ordered 13 episodes for the show’s third season.
Up last is the premiere of Russell Brands sketch show, Strangely Uplifting at 11/10c. The series features Brand’s unvarnished, unfiltered take on current events, politics and pop culture. The network has ordered six episodes for the show’s first season.
